Do you know how to tell if you’re staying in a redneck hotel?

When you call the front desk saying I’ve got a leak in the sink and the front desk person says go ahead.

As an FYI to my faithful visitors on this site.  I am in partnership with my lovely wife and together we are setting up a Zundel family website that is beginning to take on a very nice look.  You can see it at

http://www.abrahamzundel.info/

A fun thing to be doing to help get all the relatives on the same page.  What we are seeing on others blog pages is mis-information about the family.  You know, the typical, husband so and so and wife so and so had X children, named, blah, blutz and cuz.  And of course they have the wrong dad and mom with the wrong kids.

We are perfect, so our word is the real word, and to quote a good friend and cousin of mine…”just sayin”.

A little silver-haired lady calls her neighbor and says, “Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can’t figure out how to get started.”

Her neighbor asks, “What is it supposed to be when it’s finished?”

The little silver haired lady says, “According to the picture on the box, it’s a rooster.”

Her neighbor decides to go over and help with the puzzle.

She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table.

He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her and says,

“First of all, no matter what we do, we’re not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a rooster.”

He takes her hand and says, “Secondly, I want you to relax. Let’s have a nice cup of tea, and then,” he said with a deep sigh …………

Mitch and I went fishing yesterday, once again up to Rockport.  The ice was 10 inches thick and clear…very solid ice.  The fishing was a bit offish to say the least.  The bites we had were extremely light but we did have a few.  It wasn’t until 20 minutes until we were going to leave that I finally caught one.  Shortly after that Mitch had a good bite but missed the fish.  When he reeled in his line was broken.  The fish got away with his lure.

Gathering up another pole that had a lure already on it, he joked about catching that fish and getting his lure back.  He lowered his line to the bottom and took two cranks up and set the pole on his bucket….WHAM!  Fish on!  Soon he had a nice 18 inch fat rainbow trout flopping on the ice.  A very nice way to end the day.

Then he said, “There is a line coming out of the fishes mouth”.  I looked and sure enough there was.  He pulled slightly on the line and out popped his lure from the broken line!

Can you believe that?!?

So, I gave up 2 quarters for that fish and we packed it up and came home.  That is two trips in a row that strange things have happened and both at Rockport.

Big thanks go out to GrandpaD and Adam Eakle for helping us make it possible to bring the Boys and Girls Club of Salt Lake to the Doug Miller Tribute Party at Rockport on February 4th! 8)

The UWC wanted to have the opportunity to expose some children to ice fishing and GrandpaD and Adam were kind enough to allow us to bring these kids along and expose them to something that they may have never had the opportunity to experience before.

The future of outdoor sporting depends on the rising generations and we are so excited to have the opportunity to take 40 kids out for their first ice fishing trip! We are excited to give these kids the opportunity to try something new, enrich their lives and share our passion for the outdoors with them, but we need help!

We are currently looking for volunteers as well as donors for this event and are relying on our community of friends and family to make this a once in a lifetime experience for these great kids.

We are looking for the following:

-Ice fishing gear. Rods, reels, lures , tents, buckets, camp chairs, fish finders and everything in between.

-$Money$. We don’t need a ton of money, but won’t turn down a dime. All funds will be earmarked specifically for this event and future youth events. No amount is too small and will go a long way! (see link below ***)

-Clothing. Any and all kids warm weather clothing is needed. We’d like to see this event several hundred strong in years to come, so a surplus of toasty winter clothes will be an awesome asset! But we are currently in need of boots, pants, coats, gloves and hats for the kids to wear.

-Volunteers. We will need adults who know what they are doing to show these kids the ropes. If you’ve got the time, we’ve got the kids!

-Pass it on! Please let your friends, relatives and neighbors (Even if relatives and neighbors aren’t actually “friends :) ) know of what we are doing. Please post this on your facebook and other social networks, feel free to put my information and the UWC facebook link on there.

*** You can donate via credit card or Paypal @ http://www.unitedwildlifecooperative.org

If you are interested in helping in any of the ways listed above, please PM one of the following individuals: Bax*, Treehugnhuntr, or bullsnot for further information.

If you would like to make a financial donation to this worthy cause, but dont want to use paypal or a credit card, please PM one of us for additional information.

Thanks to everybody that has made this possible and thanks in advance to those who are willing to help out!

I don’t know how to add a company to this page so that they might be able to boost their sales, but one has come to mind that I think every hunter needs to be aware of.  Grouse Wing Camo is the name of the company.  It’s a small operation right now, but they have the right idea for hunting camo in my opinion.

I love their sales statement as well:  “Hide like prey, hunt like a predator”

Check them out at GrouseWingCamo.com!

Another unseasonably warm winter day ahead.  Highs expected in the upper 40’s today.  So, with so much sunshine, we are headed for the ice cap on Rockport for another attempt to find a finned and tagged fish!  Wish us luck!

Hopefully more pictures will be taken today than last time and more will be added to this report later on.

It’s fish time!

Well the fishing wasn’t really fast, but we did manage to land about 8, but the special thing was one that Edjukateer caught and while he was fighting it, it actually came up in Weasels ice hole!  And Weasel was at least 15 feet away from Edjukateer fishing.  Watch the video and listen in the background!  I have never heard of this happening before!
